Pete The Meat Puppet And More Nice Work
Pete The Meat Puppet film for Diesel, directed by Legs. Agency: Farfar, Stockholm
Here is a selection of the more interesting advertising work that has passed under our noses at CR of late. First up is a frankly bizarre film that is one of a series of shorts that feature on this new Diesel website. New York/LA directing team Legs are behind all the films, including Pete The Meat Puppet, which features one of the catchiest songs we’ve heard on an ad for a long time. Yet somehow it seems unlikely that this song will make it into the charts.
Barnardo’s, Break The Cycle, agency: BBH. Creatives: Dominic Goldman, Nick Gill. Production company: Sonny. Director: Jeff Labbe
Having lulled you in gently with Pete the Meat Puppet, it’s time to get serious with this spot for Barnardo’s, which comes with a warning on YouTube that it’s not suitable for viewers under 13. It’s harsh stuff, proving that not all charity advertising is opting for the more subtle approach seen in Patrick’s post here earlier this week.
BBC News On Your Mobile, agency: RKCR Young & Rubicam, London; creatives: Mark Roalfe, Mike Boles, Jerry Hollens; production company: Red Bee Media/Another Film Company, director: Steve Reeves
Steve Reeves has directed this spot for BBC News, which demonstrates the changing nature of news reporting.
Department of Transport Road Safety campaign, agency: Leo Burnett London, creatives: Christopher Birch, Caroline Rawlings, production company: Nexus Productions, directors: Smith & Foulkes
Leo Burnett in London has created this new animated road safety campaign for the Department of Transport. Directed by Smith & Foulkes, the poignant film tells the tale of The Boy Who Didn’t Stop, Look & Listen.
Axe Squares, agency: Vegaolmosponce, Buenos Aires, creative directors: Ricardo Armentano, Analia Rios, production company: Rebolucion, director: Armando Bo
Over to Argentina now, with this latest for deodorant Axe (Lynx in the UK) from Vegaolmosponce in Buenos Aires. The ad continues the Axe/Lynx theme of the deodorant being irresistible to women (is anyone else growing a little bored of this message..?) but adds an interesting touch with some special effects.
Coca-Cola Hidden Formula, agency: Santo, creatives: Maximiliano Anselmo, Pablo Minces, production company: Bent Image Lab, director: David Daniels, Ray Di Carlo
Also from Buenos Aires, this time from Santo, is this charming spot for Coca-Cola which plays on the myth of Coke’s ’secret formula’.
Human Paint Five ident, directed by Robert Seidel, production company: Love
Finally, we finish with this ident for Five, directed by Robert Seidel, which forms part of DixonBaxi’s recent rebrand of the channel.
