Videos of the month

Eliza 27/11/07, 13:24

Our showcase in the December issue of Creative Review is all about music, and of course features some choice cuts of music video brilliance. Here is a selection of the vids featured in the issue, plus some other ones that have grabbed our attention this month. First up is Wade Shotter’s latest for Vincent Vincent & The Villains, which shows that you can’t beat a bit of good old-fashioned hula-hooping.

Next is director Nima Nourizadeh’s video for Chromeo’s Bonafied Lovin’, which brings to mind (to certain members of the CR editorial team at least) the video for Def Leppard’s Let’s Get Rocked and, of course, Money For Nothing by Dire Straits.

Director Jan Urbanowski shows off his crazy dance moves in his starring role in the video for Sargasso Trio’s Heels on Fire.

Irish songster Jape gets fruity in the video for his track Floating, directed by design studio M&E and D.A.D.D.Y.

It’s another bleak-yet-beautiful film for Unkle, directed by Mark Locke for new track Hold My Hand.

This animated spot advertising Led Zeppelin’s album The Mothership is an extension of the band’s album illustration by Shepard Fairey. Ad concept and production by Fold7 tv.

Not strictly a music video, this short film sees filmmaker Sophie Clements in collaboration with John Hendicott and Scanner to create Evensong, shot in Scotland and featuring geometric light patterns created in-camera. Lovely.

Finally, a couple of Garth Jennings and Adam Buxton’s videos for the recent Radiohead webcast. Firstly, this intimate performance of track Faust Arp, up a hill in Didcot at sunset…

… followed by this Seven spoof - guess who’s head turns out to be in the box?

As ever, please send links to any goodies we might have missed in the comments box below.
