We wanted a physical asset that represented our company and the services we offer as music consultants, that also had something 'real' to say.

We started with the obvious 'company brochure' approach, with commissioned photo illustration, some well treated typography, fancy paper, a few special processes, and potentially a lot of production money later, we felt that this just wouldn't hit the mark. After all... brochures just end-up straight in the bin, with little or no reason to keep them right?

Then came the Music Map idea. Six months in the making and many re-drafts to get it right, but we think the final results look stunning, and there's some real integrity to the information contained within.

The point is that music takes endless forms and touches everyone's lives in some way... but it's also a complicated and intricate place full of 'etiquette' that many brands and agency's just don't fully understand.

The map is message suggesting that music's a complicated landscape so when brands are devising music campaigns and partnerships, specialist music advice is essential to assure targeted delivery and maximum results. It's all about creating well thought-out partnerships that aren't led by personal whims, which music campaigns can so easily become.

So, in creating this map we've ended up with something that's actually universally appealing, says what we need it to say and is almost plain wrong to throw away. Anyone we've shown it to so far simply gets drawn deeper and deeper into it, then the comments and healthy discussions start flying.

The map enables us to say everything we need to say on 1 page, without flicking through pointless company blurb, whilst delivering something that's fit to put straight up on the wall... not in the bin.

It should be noted that the Music Map is purely our take on the history of music… believe, we could have gone on forever with sub genres of sub genres, and hidden underground movements, but we had to stop somewhere. Of course... all music affects and influences all music and continues to do so... hence no timeline to the map, and ultimately, it's all connected in some direct or indirect way, which is graphically represented as the whole form.
