The Legend Of One Eyed Jack, the Mutant Rooster of St. Joe County; is a 8.5" Children's Picture Book written by Robert Outman. The story is set in 1960's Michigan and features the adventures of two young farm boys Bob and Steve. The story is told using a Comic Strip narrative style aimed at boys and their Dads who grew up with the booming US comic book tradition.
Growing up I can assure you I 'was' Tarzan and I wanted to get that boys-eye view into the line work. As with most of my work I was determined to avoid that sterile vector-look of most kids books and inject some real observation and life into the figures.
The Legend Of One Eyed Jack is a reading book, however the story emphasizes key American values of hard work, trust, and respect for authority learned in an out-door world filled with fascinating nature, plants and animals, and the vast
seemingly insular countries (typically over 30 acres) of each farm where the boys would work and travel between farms on their bikes.
The Legend Of One Eyed Jack hits book shelves and Amazon very soon.

I was in Michigan last year, and the farms really are 90 acres plus. This artwork by Dave really brings the great out doors to life, and I 'd agree with the sentiment that vector art just can't beat this kind of raw talent.
