AR Coloring Canvas

The AR Colouring canvas is part of a new gift shop collection at the Children’s Science and Technology Museum, Belgrade. Through its collection of toys, from 19th century to today, the Museum offers insight into the social, cultural and economic conditions of childhood through time. Following the development of toys one can trace technological development through historical periods.
Each white canvas features the outline of an AR code, accompanied with a brush and black paint. Once the pattern is filled, using junaio ar browser it triggers a 3d animation of one of the iconic toys from last century - mechanical robot.
The canvas represents part of LVS’s larger interest in connecting the analog and the virtual, and creating transient experiences where interactions in the real world have their digital consequences. At the same time the canvas, the canvas with its defined patterns to be filled in order for AR content to appear presents an ironic reflection on the evermore digital everyday life and its set of predefined rules and choices in order for one to communicate, express itself or create.
