Paloma Rincón

Personal: Kaledible

Paloma Rincón’s Kaledible is a kaleidoscopic take on food porn, using angled mirrors to create visions of infinite feasts. The series, which was released as a set of NFTs earlier in the year, features four hypnotic video artworks: Junkscope, Meatscope, Sweetscope, and Fruitscope. Each piece is a staged version of a meal, showing juicy burgers, fresh fruit and cupcakes thick with icing, arranged using “several food styling tricks”.

Rincón’s artworks push at the boundaries of real and artificial, particularly in Sweetscope, which zooms in on glistening syrup, jelly, and suspiciously unmelted ice cream. Rincón describes it as “a sugar and carb feast, a composition devoid of nutrients that nevertheless fills our eyes and our senses”.
