To celebrate the launch of Toyota’s FT-86 II concept sports car at the Tokyo Motor Show in December, creative agency Party has painted a mural on a wall in front of the busy Shinjuku Station in the city, which viewers can interact with online…

The website connects live to the painted mural via UStream. Viewers can then click on various elements in the painting that link to interesting things online. Some of these are Toyota-based, such as info on the new car, but others are less sales-orientated. They include links to films related to speed (such as a clip of a horse race and footage of a leopard), and a ‘social network racer’ game on Facebook.

There is also a Twitter stream above the painting that lists any new tweets about the project, and, in a particularly cute move, when anyone tweets about the painting or likes it on Facebook, two beacons in front of the mural will light up. These can be seen in the photo above (these screengrabs were taken when it was nighttime in Tokyo, hence the gloomy light).

The film above shows the painting being installed. You can interact with it online at fpw.toyota-digital.com, though act fast, as the website is only live until November 26.

Subscribers to CR can find out more about Party, the agency behind the project, in this feature from our September 2011 issue.
