The ad is a refreshing move from Tiffany & Co – it marks the first time it has used a same-sex couple in its ads – but in every other respect is totally in keeping with the brand’s marketing. Agency: Ogilvy & Mather New York; Photography: Peter Lindbergh.
This new Lynx spot has also received cheers from the gay press (including Attitude) for featuring a kiss between two men. Toronto Crime Stoppers has taken an unusual approach in its latest public service campaign, which aims to highlight the harmful ingredients that can be found in ecstasy tablets. The spot takes the form of a cookery show, but with Class A drugs instead of flour and butter. We finish this week’s round-up with a striking but disturbing ad for Karma Nirvana, a UK charity that helps victims of honour-based violence, which is running in limited editions of the February issue of Cosmopolitan magazine in the UK. The cover design features a plastic wraparound encasing an image of a woman’s face who appears to be suffocating, as well as text about Shafilea Ahmed, the 17-year-old British-Pakistani woman who was murdered by her parents in 2004.
