Air Max Day ’18 by ManvsMachine

This project has been selected in the Motion Graphics / Moving Image category in The Annual 2019, CR’s award scheme celebrating the best in commercial creativity

ManvsMachine has created some rather slick motion graphics work for Nike over the years. Since 2015, the studio has worked on the campaign for the brand’s annual celebration of one of its most famous styles with Nike Air Max Day on 26 March, now an essential date on every sneakerhead’s calendar.

For its fourth edition, the studio created a vibrant mishmash of different visuals to go with each release. Using a distinctly 90s throwback aesthetic and an ‘anti-design framework’, the finished vignettes range from live-action footage and stereoscopic GIFs, to 3D animation. “The real joy of this project was in combining both the past and present identities of the brand: reflecting Nike Air’s ongoing state of reinvention – an eclectic, ever-changing, melting pot of inspiration,” says the studio.
