With this project, Frauke Fischer aimed to broaden the images of beauty that are portrayed in glossy magazines, in order to make the point that the perfect ideals we are usually offered can be boring and limited. “I wanted to show how many more fascinating people and [types of] beauty there are,” says Fischer.

“This is the first part of the project in which I photographed Tamara Röske, a model with Down’s syndrome. It was a pleasure to meet her. Not only is she one of the most open and welcoming people I know, she is also full of energy and ambition: from acting and modelling, to clarinet playing in an orchestra and swimming competitions, she does it all with ease. She is a beautiful person inside and out, who I was lucky to meet.” Fischer’s images of Röske were featured in the July 2019 issue of Elle Bulgaria.
