Part of Ballon’s long-running personal project The Bitter Sea, which examines Bolivia’s loss of the sea and its relationship with it, Armada features the recruits of the landlocked country’s navy.

Based at San Pedro de Tiquina on Lake Titicaca, their routine is much like that of any navy around the world with drill, classroom-based learning and exercises out on the water.

Their HQ is also home to the Centre for High-Altitude Scuba Diving (CIBA), the highest scuba diving centre in the world. The series has been published in Avaunt magazine.
