December’s CR is our special issue dedicated to the year’s outstanding images. The CR Photography Annual was launched in 2006. For our tenth anniversary we have made some changes. We have new categories for the magazine and brand making the best use of photography in the year. We have also chosen our favourite photo exhibition and photobook as well as picking five of the most exciting young photographers for our Zeitgeist award. Plus, we are honouring one individual who has made an outstanding contribution to photography. All this and 60 pages of the winning work from our open competition.
The NYT Magazine’s Director of Photography Kathy Ryan wins our first Outstanding Contribution to Photography award. Mark Sinclair talks to her about her role and the impact of new storytelling media such as VR
For its consistently brilliant use of imagery, The New York Times Magazine is our Magazine of the Year. Mark talked to Design Director Gail Bichler about how the magazine stays at the forefront of editorial creativity.
Camper is our Photography Annual Brand of the Year for its daring, humour and the unique tone of voice of its distinctive imagery
The brilliant National Portrait Gallery show of William Eggleston’s Portraits is our Photography Exhibition of the Year. Eliza Williams reflects on what made it such a great show
