Andy Serkis is best-known for roles comprising motion capture acting, animation and voice work for such computer-generated characters as Gollum in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, King Kong in the eponymous 2005 film, and Caesar in the Planet of the Apes reboot series. In 2011, Serkis founded The Imaginarium Studios with film producer Jonathan Cavendish. Based in Ealing, London it is dedicated to the invention of believable, emotionally engaging digital characters in film, television and computer games, using what has become known as Performance Capture technology. Serkis is currently in post-production on his directorial debut, Breathe, starring Andrew Garfield and Claire Foy, about a couple who refuse to give up in the face of a devastating disease. He is also in post-production on Jungle Book: Origins, on which he serves as director, producer and actor (in the role of Baloo).
