Even while at college Anisah Osman Britton knew she wanted to run her own business, though she didn’t know quite what that business would be. After a few experiments, world travel and a stint at corporate accelerator The Bakery, she founded 23 Code Street in January 2016. A coding school with a difference, it’s a tech school exclusively for women founded with a mission to bring more women into the tech industry.

The school runs short, weekend and evening classes for women who want to learn how to code. The courses are designed for women of all ages, experience levels and stages of their careers, with special workshops for women from marginalised ethnic or social groups. The fee structure at 23 Code Street is designed such that every paying student here in the UK funds the technical education of a girl in the slums of Mumbai.
