Ken Kirton co-founded Hato with Jackson Lam after the pair left Central Saint Martins in 2009. Hato started out as a risograph printing press and now includes a publishing arm and a multidisciplinary design agency. The agency specialises in co-design: it recently collaborated with school pupils in Liverpool to turn a double decker bus into a travelling artwork for the Liverpool Biennial and created an identity for graphic arts festival Pick Me Up with help from the public. Kirton leads the creative direction of Hato and oversees engagement projects, digital, events and workshops with clients such as the Design Museum, Science Museum, Facebook and Uniqlo.
