Robin Derrick is a veteran of the UK’s most important fashion and style magazines. Still a first year student at St Martins School of Art when he started working with Terry Jones on the fledgling i-D in 1981, on graduation he become designer and later art director at The Face, where he forged links with photographers including Nick Knight, Mario Testino and Juergen Teller.

After a stint as contributing editor at men’s mag Arena, he moved to Italy to launch Italian Elle as art director. In 1988, he co-founded Studio Box, an art direction and design studio with offices in Paris and Milan, which worked with clients including Dolce & Gabbana, Max Mara, and Ferretti, before returning to London in 1993 to be creative director at British Vogue.

He remained at Vogue until 2009, when he joined Spring Studios, where he is now global ECD, working across the company’s London and New York offices. Once known primarily as a photography studio, Derrick has helped expand Spring into an innovative creative agency for fashion clients, which include Tom Ford, Diesel, Kiko, Calvin Klein, Versus Versace, Nexxus and Canali. Derrick has also kept faith with his editorial roots while at Spring, redesigning and creating a digital platform for Harper’s Bazaar US, and launching Porter magazine in 2014.
