This week’s advertising round-up features work for The Samaritans, NBA, Pizza Express, Iceland, Honda, Comic Relief, and Brazilian charity AC Camargo Cancer Center. The Brooklyn Brothers created this unusual ‘soundscape installation’ to promote Iceland as a tourist destination. Titled The Horn of Secrets, it was installed in a market square in Frankfurt for three days earlier this week and featured sculptures crafted in corrugated tin and painted in vibrant colours to reflect the traditional tin houses of Iceland. The sculptures emitted a soundscape intended to draw in passers-by and featured ten carefully crafted horns, which, when listened to closely, contained the whispered secrets of Icelanders. The piece formed part of the wider tourism campaign Share The Secret, which aims to inspire travellers to seek out Iceland’s undiscovered treasures. It is created by the Brooklyn Brothers in partnership with Islenska production company.
This film was created for the Honda booth at the Tokyo Motor Show by Mori Inc in Japan. It offers a brief history of Honda’s prototype vehicles and features some nice motion graphics. Creative director: Morihiro Harano (Mori); Creatives: Yoshihiro Yagi, Haruko Tsutsui (Dentsu); Designer: Shunsuke Sugiyama.
A little Comic Relief campaign for you now, to promote the autobiography of ad character Monkey (of ITV Digital and PG Tips fame), created by Mother. The film sees Monkey performing in a video pastiche for 80s classic song Careless Whisper by George Michael, complete with a soulful sax solo. The book can be bought online here, with all profits going to Comic Relief.
We finish with this clever campaign from JWT in Brazil for the AC Camargo Cancer Center in São Paulo. In order to raise awareness of the need for breast cancer prevention and early diagnosis, the campaign adapted grafitti artworks in the city that featured bare breasts. With the artists’ permission, the campaign covered one of the breasts in the paintings with a piece of paper that showed the area repainted with a mastectomy scar. A tagline with information about the charity was also fixed to the wall. The case study above explains the campaign in more detail. CCO: Ricardo John; Head of art: Fabio Simões; Creative directors: Hernan Rebalderia, Santiago Dulce; Creatives: Lucas Tristão, Filipe Cuvero, Brunno Cortez; Film production company: Bando; Director: Pedro Gomes.
