Emmanuel Macron for the New Yorker by Alexander Coggin

Honourable Mention: Editorial

This portrait of French President Emmanuel Macron was commissioned by Genevieve Fussell at the New Yorker and shot in Paris at Macron’s office at the Palais de l’Élysée in June 2019. The image features Alexander Coggin’s unmistakable style but offers up an unexpected and unusual vision of the president. Coggin achieved the portrait in very limited time: “I had exactly ten minutes with him and was very pleased with the candid and unconventional portrait,” he says.
