Full-Spot: Monotype at Cannes

If you are currently at the Cannes Lions ad festival, Monotype and CR have an evening of typographic fun (yes, you heard right) lined up for the evening of June 18

Monotype (in association with CR) will be hosting a drinks reception at the Cannes Connect Bar at the Palais de Festival ahead of that evening’s awards. But it won’t just be about having fun. Attendees will be asked to take on Full Spot, a game of typographic identification.

Graphics around the venue will be displaying a variety of full-stops (or ‘periods’ to our American friends) from various Monotype typefaces. Attendees will be challenged to identify them all using a special game card. The party is open to all delegates. There will be prizes.

The Full Stops featured are those which were collated by Pentagram partner Abbott Miller for the exhibition Century: 100 Years of Type in Design at the AIGA National Design Center in New York, which was organised by Monotype. The Century exhibition which was due to run from May to June has now been extended to July 31. More details here.

And if you’re not in Cannes this week, fear not. We will be running an online version of Full Spot here on the blog very soon.
