Refuge She Lights Up The Night

Jean Jullien, Siggi Eggertsson and more create new works for Refuge auction

She Lights Up The Night, an initiative launched last year by BBH London to raise money for Refuge, returns this week and sees artists including Jean Jullien, Jon Burgerman, Hattie Stewart and Siggi Eggertsson create new works for an exhibition and auction.

She Lights Up The Night first took place last year, and raised over £30,000 for the charity Refuge. Initiated by BBH London, the project is a straightforward proposition: the agency invites a number of big name artists and illustrators to create new artworks and limited edition prints and the works are then sold via an exhibition and auction, with all monies raised going to Refuge.

Last year’s show featured the likes of Anthony Burrill and Morag Myerscough and the team has returned with another excellent line up for 2017. Works by Mike Perry, Jon Burgerman, Siggi Eggertsson, Kindah Khalidy, Crispin Finn, Letman, Steve Wilson, Rude, Hense, Jean Jullien, Lauren Baker, Daisy Emerson, Poul Webb, Hannah Waldron and Hattie Stewart are all included in the exhibition, which is on show this weekend (March 10-12) at the Protein Studios in London.

Joining these stellar names, will be a new face: Olivia Healy, a student at Falmouth University who won a nationwide competition staged by BBH to appear in the show.

Each artist has created an original work and a limited edition print loosely themed around ideas that are important to Refuge, including female empowerment and feelings of optimism and support.

The exhibition at Protein Studios features all the works created, with the limited edition prints on sale at a pop-up shop in the gallery this weekend. The original works will be hung in the space and visitors are then invited to place bids for them online at from March 13. The project will finish with a live auction of the works that will take place on March 30.
