Lyle’s Golden Syrup is to auction a one-off nine carat gold-plated festive tin of its famous product, worth £1000, for charity this Christmas

 

 

Lyle’s seasonal tins feature the inscription Bake, Eat & Be Merry. The company has created a gold-plated version at its East London factory which will auctioned on Ebay. Proceeds will go to local sports charity Newham All Stars Sports Academy.

 

 

The tin was designed by Design Bridge who worked with engraving specialists Swatkins, who apparently engrave the winners’ names on the FA Cup. The gold-plated tin, Lyle’s say, took 500 man hours to create. Minimum bid, £100. Details here
