March 2010: 1980

Creative Review was born in 1980. For this special edition of Monograph we’ve collected together a range of work that also emerged that same year.

This is not meant as a definitive list, but rather a snapshot of the objects, graphic design styles, advertising techniques and technologies that evoke this particular point in time.

There are classics and there are unsung heroes; some everyday objects and some that are well established greats within the creative canon.

Needless to say, we had fun arguing over what, and what not, to include here. Pictures were tracked down via image archives, D&AD, personal collections and eBay. To everyone who helped in our search and who supplied images, thank you.

We hope you agree that 1980 was a special year – in more ways than one.
