Parachute Typefoundry: PF Expo type design

PF Expo, by Parachute Typefoundry, is “nobly rooted in simple, rational and absolutely functional Roman forms”. According to the foundry, it harks back to several condensed typefaces released in the late 19th century, when wood type manufacturers released a wave of design variations into the market, some of which featured similarly triangular shapes.

“PF Expo’s carefully modelled serifs follow an artful logic of triangular symmetry,” says Parachute Typefoundry, “while at x-height, the slanted one-sided serifs in letters such as ‘n’, ‘p’ and ‘r’ blend effortlessly into the stems to foster a distinct identity.”

PF Expo’s details shine at large sizes, which expose the abrupt cuts at the joints and bring what Parachute Typefoundry describes as its “extravagant nature” to the forefront. The typeface offers pan-European Latin support, as well as Greek and Cyrillic.
