This beautiful book was created by illustrator Millie Marotta. It was inspired by her love of the natural world, and her concern about the fact that we are losing species more quickly than we are discovering new ones.

The book chronicles the vanishing species whose stories are not often told, including the mysterious baby dragons of the underworld, the dodo’s long-lost cousin, gargantuan lobsters, and the incredible shrinking reindeer. Each animal is exquisitely illustrated in full colour by Marotta and displayed alongside text describing why they are unique.
