Paul Thomas Anderson directs new Radiohead video

Radiohead have been knocking it out of the park with the visuals for their new album. Earlier this week, they wowed us with Burn The Witch’s video, and now a second film, for track Daydreaming, is equally compelling. And it’s directed by Paul Thomas Anderson no less

The film places Thom Yorke at its centre, and we watch as he prowls restlessly through a series of rooms, which change with each new door opened. If these are the corridors of Yorke’s mind, it is crammed and complex – taking in a hospital, a laundrette, and countless homes, before occasionally bursting into the outside world.

The mood, appropriately enough, is dream-like, with Yorke largely ignored by those he passes, and he strides on, by turns seeming perplexed, irritated and even slightly amused. At the end though, any joy is extinguished, and as in the Burn The Witch video, things turn dark indeed.

As you would expect from Paul Thomas Anderson, the film is gorgeous and cinematic, and – despite being entirely enigmatic – totally gripping throughout.

Along with this video is the announcement that the new album is out on Sunday (May 8) on XL Records. Keep the amazing videos coming, Radiohead.
