Working closely with food delivery service Postmates’ creative agency Mother Los Angeles, Nexus Studios produced a series of nine mixed-media films centred around a singular theme: the experience of taking the first bite of your favourite food. A range of flavour profiles and products was selected from Postmates’ best-in-class merchants – from makers of boba tea and Nashville hot chicken, to BBQ and sushi. Each film required a distinctive animation style while being unified under a singular graphic system.

Under the creative direction of Nexus Studios’ Harry Butt, this project allowed the studio to showcase in-house talent from its roster and within its larger network. Bringing in creatives Laurie Rowan, Angela Kirkwood, Double Up Studio, Shynola, Dante Zaballa, Fantasista Utamaro and bus.group allowed the team to play between 2D, 3D, claymation, motion graphics and even a technique reminiscent of celluloid scratch film.
