Royal College of Art: Second Sea posters

Category: Print; Entrant: Accept & Proceed

To coincide with Cop27, the Royal College of Art’s School of Architecture invited Accept & Proceed to collaborate on launching an online interactive platform called Second Sea, which shows the impact of rising sea levels on coastal cities.

The platform uses a bespoke formula to calculate the amount that different countries need to pay to cover the future loss and damage to coastal cities. The CO2 emissions historically contributed by each country determined its share of the cost. The data was visualised as an invoice to be shared on social media.

As part of an integrated campaign to amplify the message, Accept & Proceed designed a series of posters to be installed at ground level, with a rising blue ‘flood’ acting as a scale indication of how much higher the sea level will be in different cities. The team also distributed call-to-action business cards at Cop27, which were dipped in blue ink to symbolise rising sea levels.
