Sea Shepherd’s Plastic Ocean campaign vividly illustrates pollution issue

FF New York has created a new campaign highlighting the reality of sea animals trapped in plastic waste for the charity that campaigns against plastic pollution of the ocean

Founded in 1977, Sea Shepherd is an international, non-profit marine conservation organisation based in Washington state in the US.

FF New York’s Plastic Ocean campaign aims put the issue of plastic waste polluting the world’s seas “on the front page of social media and create a mindset of sustainable usage of plastic, especially for Millennials and Gen Z”.

A film, directed by Geoff Bailey and animated by Alkemy X, features sea creatures struggling against a wall of brightly coloured plastic. Social media executions follow the same style.

“Plastics are invading the oceans on an unprecedented scale. Like an invasive species, it is wiping out ocean wildlife and taking over its habitat. Humans are to blame for the introduction of this most lethal substance and if we don’t stop its progress, soon the oceans will contain more plastic by sheer weight than all animal life combined,” says Sea Shepherd CEO Captain Alex Cornelissen.
