We’ve some lovely promos to share with you this week, including films for Fràncois & The Atlas Mountains, Basement Jaxx, Klangkarussell, Arcade Fire, and Röysopp & Robyn. First up though is this great video by directing duo Thirtytwo for Eugene McGuinness’s track Godiva, which features various men giving us some serious guitar face….
Director: Thirtytwo; Production company: Pulse Films
Elliott Dear, who co-directed the John Lewis Bear & Hare Christmas ad, is behind this film for Fràncois & The Atlas Mountains, which draws on fantasy films of the 80s and 90s to tell the story of a group of tiny forest ninjas. Production company: Blinkink.
Animator Tomek Ducki is behind this charming animated vid for Basement Jaxx’s new track Unicorn, which I’m finding a little reminiscent of Yellow Submarine for some reason (is it the arms?). Ducki has worked with the band for a while now, having previously created live show visuals for them.
There’s a good chance you might have seen the new Arcade Fire video, which is a blockbuster affair starring Spider-man actor Andrew Garfield as a transgender character. The video has created a lot of discussion and debate already (see the Guardian’s coverage here) but in case you’ve missed it, you can catch up here. Director: David Wilson; Production company: The Directors Bureau.
You’ll need a head for heights to enjoy this promo for Klangkarussell track Netzwerk (Falls Like Rain), which stars Ukranian daredevil artist Mustang Wanted engaging in various stunts like tightrope-walking along cranes and hanging off buildings, while capturing it all on film from a head camera. Yikes. Director: Charlie Robins; Production company: Forever Pictures.
We finish with this glitchy yet glitzy video for Rökysopp and Robyn’s collaboration Sayit. Directed by Sandberg & Timonen alongside fashion photographer Kacper Kasprzyk, it premiered on the H&M Life website. Production company: Strange Cargo Film.
