This week we bring you a bumper collection of new spots, includings ads for Citizen Watches, Volvo, Rock The Vote, and the New York Donor Network, plus a brilliantly funny film for fashion magazine Vs., which sends up our narcissistic selfie culture. To kick us off though, here’s a striking new spot for Smirnoff…

Created to promote new products Smirnoff Ice Double Black and Ice Double Black Guarana for the African market, the ad is aimed at young men who like to party, day or night. Agency: 72andSunny; ECD: Carlo Cavallone; Creative director: Matt Heck; Lead writer: Emiliano Trierveiler; Director: Martin Krecji; Production company: Stink. VFX: Glassworks Amsterdam.

For Citizen Watch’s latest campaign, the brand challenged photographer Simon Roberts to chase the sunset across the earth’s time zones to show off the satellite-synchronised technology in the new Eco-Drive Satellite Wave F100 watch. The film above follows his journey, and shows off the stunning images he captured. Agency: Wieden + Kennedy Tokyo/Amsterdam; Mike Farr, Tota Hasegawa (W+K Tokyo); Art director: Vasco Vicente (W+K Amsterdam); Copywriters: Evgeny Primachenko (W+K Amsterdam), Takeshi Amata (W+K Tokyo); Director: Tristan Patterson; Production company: Smuggler. Editor: James Forbes-Robertson, Whitehouse Post.

A beautiful piece of animation for you next, directed by Laurent Wiz (who won an Oscar for his short film Mr Hublot) for the New York Organ Donor Network. Agency: Y&R New York; CCO: Jim Elliott; ECD: Glen Jacobs; Creative directors: Josh Schildkraut, Miranda Dean; Director: Laurent Witz; Production company: Zeilt Productions.

This new Volvo ad from Grey London features a masterful piece of sound design, backing up some moody surfing visuals as we are all encouraged to ‘seek feeling’. ECD: Nils Leonard; Global creative director: Hollie Newton; Creatives: Jamie Starbuck, Howard Green; Director: Marcus Söderlund; Production company: Academy Films; Audio post-production: Aaron Reynolds, Wave.

Goodby Silverstein & Partners New York has created a series of films (one shown above) for Rock The Vote, a non-profit youth organisation which aims to encourage people to register to vote in the forthcoming elections. The approach is a simple but effective one – by highlighting people who may hold difficult views for a youth audience to swallow, the need for everyone to vote becomes all too apparent.

We finish with a great new short from director Matthew Frost (who previously brought us Fashion Film). Created for Vs. magazine, the film stars Kirsten Dunst, who is shown experiencing the type of encounter with fans which could only happen in 2014. It’s a brilliant, if rather terrifying, vision of modern life. Production company: Iconoclast. Editor: Ethan Mitchell, Whitehouse Post.
