Illustrator Solji Lee on perseverance

The creative shares why it’s good to push through the struggles and why practice has become the most important element of her work

There are some people who when they start reading a book, even if they’re not enjoying it, they battle through and still read to the end. Illustrator Solji Lee applies the same spirit to finishing a piece of work. “Even if you struggle during the process, it’s really important to not give up easily because you can learn and improve a lot from those struggles,” she tells CR.

Lee, who was raised in Seoul but is now based in Paris, believes this persistence should also extend to working on personal projects in between commissioned pieces, as it often leads to “self-examination” and expands your “artistic vision”.
