ManvsMachine conceptualised, designed and directed the stories of three fictional entrepreneurs for Squarespace’s Make the Next campaign. The films emphasise the role the website builder can play for ambitious young people, showing how something as simple as making a meal, or finishing a stitch, can be the beginning of a burgeoning new business.
The studio blended different formats and mediums for the ads, creating “an interesting and tactile motion language in which type, 3D vignettes and live action could live and work harmoniously within our design system to craftily illustrate and accompany the hero voiceover”.
The visual language echoes that of the internet, using mouse pointers, like counters and clickable buttons to firmly embed the narratives in the digital world. After millions of views via Squarespace’s YouTube channel, the brand is now extending the idea with versions created for specific parts of Europe.
