Synthesis

Synthesis: a process which combines together two or more pre-existing elements resulting in the formation of something new

This is the basis for these forms, made from two to three relatively simple lines, synthesised to create highly complex and intricate forms.

The process of creating these forms is completely organic. Outcomes are down to experimentation of line manipulation: a small movement of one of the building blocks can completely change the structure and shape. The journey of creating the forms is one of exploration and intrigue.

The viewer also goes through a process of exploration and intrigue in defining what the form means to them. In the main, responses allude to anatomical illustrations and the documentation of living organisms.

The style has a modern twist on natural history encyclopedias, where species are removed from their native environment and technically represented on sterile white for the purposes of documentation and study.

U2 Linear: it’s not a music video

Deluxe editions of U2’s new album, No Line On The Horizon are accompanied by Linear, a specially commissioned film by Anton Corbijn. “It is not an extended music video or a U2 documentary, it’s a new way to listen to a record – a new way to use film to connect to music,” claims Corbijn.

Honda’s Shining Light

Honda’s brand new Let It Shine commercial, shot by Erik van Wyk through Bouffant breaks today. Written by Wieden + Kennedy Amsterdam, the spot features a vast grid of Honda’s new Insight model parked in the desert. The Insight is, the voiceover tells us, Honda’s new, “affordable hybrid” car. In the spot, each of the cars’ headlights act as pixels to perform an animated sequence. Click Read More to view the ad and also W+K’s making-of film…
