The Guardian: Hope is Power print campaign

This iteration of the Guardian’s Hope is Power campaign was a tactical print ad that focused on how quickly dramatic change is possible, by highlighting the significance of Kamala Harris’ rise to vice-president of the US. The print ad ran in the newspaper in January 2021, timed for the inauguration of Joe Biden and Harris as president and VP respectively.

The campaign, created by Uncommon Creative Studio, began running in 2019 and aims to focus on the importance of journalism in generating change. In keeping with the rest of the campaign, this print ad features bold photography on a bright yellow background, and a shrewd use of type.
