This ad will really make you want to go on holiday

Feel like you’re stuck in a grey, drab office when there’s a whole world out there to be explored? This ad won’t help.

Holiday ads are often a bit frenetic, with an emphasis on fun, fun, fun. This new spot for New Zealand firm House of Travel instead sets a meditative tone, pairing mellow music with beautiful shots from Vietnam, Australia and New Zealand. It will have you longing to hit the road.

The ad is created by Colenso BBDO Auckland and directed by Kiku Ohe of Exit Films. It will play out in both 60 and 30 second versions but this longer film is specifically designed to play at the cinema. “We wanted to show destinations in a way that the viewer would feel, not just watch,” says Nick Worthington, ECD at Colenso BBDO. “To that end, we cast real people over actors and sent them on real holidays, filming them on their travels.”
