VW goes dramatic with car safety

The promotion of car safety features does not normally make for fun advertising, but this unexpected spot for VW from Adam&EveDDB proves that it doesn’t always have to be dull…

The ad, shown below, opens on a dramatic, Hollywood-style scene with a bus being hijacked, and a handsome businessman preparing to come to the passengers’ rescue. Yet not everything goes quite as you might expect….

This ad is part of VW’s sponsorship of independent movies, and would clearly make perfect viewing in a cinema. Plus it’s a pleasure to see that not every safety message needs to be delivered in either a po-faced or shocking manner – the spot proves that there is room for a bit of cheeky wit in this area too, without losing the emphasis of the message.
