The British Council is looking for three young “design entrepeneurs” to go on a two-week tour of the Indian design industry…

The winner of the UK Young Design Entrepeneur 2008 award and two runners-up will visit India in early 2009, meeting leading industry figures and their peers from the Indian design scene. To be eligible, you must be aged between 25 and 35, have at least three years of industry experience and be resident in the UK.

Hitler Moves East: A Graphic Chronicle, 1941-43 is a unique photography project from US artists David Levinthal and Garry Trudeau that was originally published in 1977. But the book, which documents the German invasion of the Soviet Union during World War II, isn’t quite what it appears to be at first glance. While all the images are photographs, they’re actually all of toy soldiers arranged upon a series of intricately modelled dioramas.

Faber Finds generative book covers

Faber Finds is a recently launched service offered by publisher Faber and Faber that utilises digital print technology and affordability to make out-of-print books available once more. Basically, a book is only printed when someone orders it – and, thanks to some clever gener­ative programming by Universal Everything collaborator Karsten Schmidt (undertaken through his own studio, postspectacular.com), each cover printed promises to be totally unique. Various decorative elements designed by Marian Bantjes are arranged by the programme into a decorative border around the book’s title and author. The latter appear in a bespoke font, b-hmmnd, designed by Build’s Michael Place…
