Wes Anderson turns his lens on the world of Montblanc

Featuring a rare appearance from the director himself alongside regular collaborators Rupert Friend and Jason Schwartzman, this charming ad marks the 100th anniversary of the brand’s Meisterstück pen

Montblanc has a history of collaborating with well-known filmmakers such as Spike Lee and Wim Wenders. Now, it’s the turn of director and screenwriter Wes Anderson, who has brought his trademark stylised aesthetic and offbeat storytelling to the brand’s latest campaign.

Released to celebrate 100 years of the brand’s Meisterstück pen, the campaign film sees Anderson join forces with longstanding creative collaborators including producer Roman Coppola, art director Stephan Gessler and director of photography Linus Sandgren.

The ad features appearances from actors Rupert Friend and Jason Schwartzman as well as the director himself, as it follows three colourful characters at the fictional Montblanc headquarters atop the Mont Blanc mountain.

The film is packed with subtle and not-so-subtle references to the brand’s history, including the snow-capped mountain setting in the opening scene, the imaginary Montblanc Observatory High-Mountain Library and, of course, the desk as a place where the magic of writing happens.
