Stanley Donwood: Apocalypse Boutique

A retrospective collection of rare screen-prints, linoprints, etchings and other one-off pieces from Radiohead’s in-house artist. Donwood has created much of the band’s album and poster artwork since 1995, after he and Tom Yorke met at Exeter University. Amongst the collection will be the last remaining original canvas from the 2003 Hail to the Thief series.

Viviane Sassen: In and Out of Fashion

The first UK exhibition of work from the Dutch photographer, whose dynamic approach aims to rebel against what Sassen sees as the traditional aesthetic of the ‘male-gaze’ in fashion photography. The retrospective presents much of her experimental commercial work, which includes editorials for an array of magazines, and campaigns for the likes of Carven, Stella McCartney, Miu Miu, Louis Vuitton and M Missoni. Alongside photographic prints there will be vitrine displays of notes, sketches and magazines, and an installation with images projected onto a giant mirror.

Bringing together some of the most influential street and outsider artists, this show aims to highlight the international reach of the art form, with work from established players and newer emerging artists, such as Cyclops, Pure Evil, Mambo, Sickboy and more, who have come from a range of creative backgrounds including graffiti, rave, skateboarding, film, design and fashion.

One Friday night a month the museum hosts a design, art and craft evening event, filling the space with designer and artist-led stalls, exhibits, live music and workshops, in a celebration of local creativity. Original creations, including fashion, toys, prints, crafts, literature, photography, furniture and food, will be available alongside various creative services. This month also includes OIC (Organisation of Illustrators Council), with a Portraits After Dark workshop. The museum, the former Singapore police headquarters, also houses over 1000 permanent exhibits, all winners of the red dot design awards, with interactive installations and unusual design prototypes.
