WORK: Alternative music since the 1950s, mapped by Dorothy

Studio Dorothy has released a new ‘blueprint’ map detailing the evolution of alternative music. In a nice reference, the design is based on the circuit board of the Regency TR-1, the first commercially-available transistor radio from 1954 – the very same year Bill Haley & His Comets released ‘Rock around the Clock’.

The print features over 300 artists, managers, labels and producers who have played a notable role in indie music, from early pioneers such as Bowie and the MC5, right through to The Sex Pistols, The Smiths and contemporary bands like Goat and Les Savy Fav.

Good to see that, even in print, The Fall remain out on a limb as well.

The Alternative Love Blueprint is printed in metallic gold on a navy blue uncoated stock (see larger image below) and available from wearedorothy.com/shop (£35 plus p&p)
