Julie&Thomas: Hezad MEAT video created using Snapchat drawing filter

Paris-based creative duo Julie Stephen Chheng and Thomas Pons created this experimental video for Hezad track MEAT using only the facial drawing filter on Snapchat.

“Thomas is an animation director and I am a graphic designer,” explains Chheng. “We were both graduated from the Arts Decoratifs of Paris and we’ve been working on augmented reality projects since 2014. During our bus ride to go to work, we tried to draw on Snapchat, we found the result fantastic! The tracking on the face worked very well.”

“During one week, we snapped our day to day life in Paris: our bus and subway rides, our studio, our friends and places in Paris like the Eiffel Tower, the Seine banks, The Place de la Republique

“The masks that we draw on our phones are realized with our fingers. The masks of Thomas are scary and inspired by philosophers’ heads. My masks are soft and full of patterns.”
