The Folio Society has announced limited edition illustrated reissues of Riddley Walker, Russell Hoban’s science fiction novel first published in 1980. The story is set about 2,500 years in the future, after a nuclear catastrophe has destroyed the world and follows the protagonist Walker as he makes sense of this world.
Quentin Blake illustrates the ‘threatening mood and rain-drenched atmosphere’ of Hoban’s post-nuclear world in 39 brooding watercolour drawings. The edition is limited to only a 1000 copies which have been signed and numbered by Blake. The artist has also contributed an essay titled Draw is an interesting word to the book.
The book is bound in full cloth, presented in a cloth-covered sleeve which also been designed by Blake, published by The Folio Society £295
