Wired’s Italian office commissioned UK-based artist Heath Kane to create a series of images for its latest special edition, guest-edited by Russian art/music/activist collective Pussy Riot. Designed by studio PITIS, the issue makes use of Kane’s series of ‘Masks of Fear’ artworks which depict Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un in various masked guises.

Inside the issue, Pussy Riot’s Nadia Tolokonnikova writes about Trump’s relationship with Russia and her feature is accompanied with another series of portraits by Kane. “My goal is to make pieces that stand up on their own as works of art, while delivering a powerful, subversive and often subtle message,” he says. A poster campaign featuring the artwork is also running in Italy.
