WORK: Spoof ad by Unison highlights pressures on carers
Unison has released a powerful satirical spot that highlights the huge pressures faced by care staff tending to the vulnerable and elderly. Titled 15 Minute Care Makeover, the ad spoofs reality TV and stars Claire Sweeney, a veteran of makeover TV shows. Here, she is shown hustling a care worker around an elderly man’s home as she tries to get him ready for the day in just 15 minutes (the time that 65% of councils in England and Wales are still commissioning for care visits, according to figures from Unison). The spot ends with a link to a petition to demand action from the government.
