The complete oil paintings of William Scott are published as a four-volume edition by Thames & Hudson this month, designed by Herman Lelie and Stefania Bonellim and marking the centenary of the British artist’s birth…

William Scott: Catalogue Raisonné of Oil Paintings is the work of art historian Sarah Whitfield who spent six years researching the project and which contains more than 1,000 works. The four books cover the periods 1913-51; 1952-59; 1960-68; and 1969 to 1989. Individually, the bold covers (shown below) adopt line-drawn elements from Scott’s work.

The extensive publication coincides with several exhibitions of Scott’s work this year at Karsten Schubert Gallery, London until May 17; the Jerwood Gallery, Hastings until July 10; the Osborne Samuel Gallery, London until July 13; and at the Hepworth Wakefield from May 25 to September 29.

It’s a large-scale undertaking and the object is suitably impressive too (35.5 x 27.5 cms), as is the price tag – to you, £595. More details at thamesandhudson.com.
